ND, MS

He/Him

Dr. Luciano Garofalo is a naturopathic physician and Tacoma-lover. In addition to clinical practice, he is a postdoctoral research fellow in complementary and integrative health at the University of Washington. Dr. Garofalo is passionate about healthy equity. His current research focuses on how to do more within schools to deliver healthcare, which could improve health, behavior, and educational performance for children regardless of race or income.

Dr. Garofalo prioritizes building relationships and collaborating with families in their medical care. Using conventional and natural treatments, he helps patients meet their health goals with whatever resources are available to them. He is skilled at addressing mental health, infectious disease, gastrointestinal disorders, skin disorders, sports medicine, sexual/reproductive health, and herbal medicine. He loves discussing immunization with families and he loves working with teenagers.

Dr. Garofalo received his medical degree at the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR, where his clinical training was focused in integrative primary care and community health. Before medical school, he worked 2 years as a scribe with emergency medicine and orthopedic physicians, seeing 6,000+ patients.

He and his wife, Emily, are proud to raise their two children in Tacoma, where they met when working in the L’Arche Tahoma Hope community.
